 The Giver novel study

This term we were reading a novel called The Giver. It is about a boy called Jonas, who lives in a dystopia. Last week we watched the movie, once we finished the novel, and I wrote a summary.

The giver film was really good because it made me realize how lucky I am. In their universe, they had no colour, and very strict rules. I can't imagine life with these rules.

I liked the end of the film, because it gives us a good visual of what happens. I think it was nice how he found the house, I reckon it was warm and cozy.

I also enjoyed the book. I enjoyed the work overall, and just listening to the book. it's definitely one to remember.

On Thursday, it was pet day. Since we couldn't bring our pets to school, we could either enter a photo with a written description about our pets, or make a video 30 seconds long about our pets, and I chose to do a video. I did one of my cat Toby and my pony Phoenix. Here are the videos.

Book Character Dress-up Day

 This week is book week. Today is book character dress-up day.

Me and my friends went with pretty basic outfits but we still laughed our way around the parade. (I was a bit put off doing the parade after some of my classmates laughed at my outfit and called the person that I was dressing up as an inappropriate name.)

I was Vicki Wilson from Showtym adventures, Caley is Claudia From The Babysitters Club and Lola is Kristy, also from The Babysitters Club. 

My Name is Rez

My name is Rez:

This week I have been reading a graphic novel called My Name is Rez. We read this book because this term our class is focusing on refugees. My Name is Rez is about a girl who is a refugee and lives in a camp for nine years. Right before her 10th birthday, she and her family get relocated, but they can't choose where they go, however. Rez ends up living in New Zealand. When she goes to school she finds it hard because the only words she could say was my name is Rez. People bullied Rez for that and it was a while before Rez made friends and could speak English.

It turns out that this was a true story written by herself, Rez Gardi.

Free Lunches 4 Life!

Hello, it's Kate. Last Monday AKA 4 days ago AKA the start of the term, our school has started having free lunches. 

Mon: spaghetti and meatballs

Tue: Chicken wraps

Wed: Nachos

Thur: Cheese sandwiches

Fri: Mac & cheese

I think it is very cool that we are getting free lunches now.
